Our four sketchbook assignment work to help us figure out our design and our inspiration. With the theme being Ancient Egypt, I felt inspired by the colors and patterns in the Pharaohs boat. After looking into the different textures and colors, I researched my time period inspiration and chose the 1920 as the flapper silhouette reminded me of the shape of the boat, which became my focus. I listed some of the materials I had at the time, then stated my swipes. Since there was a lot of small parts to this garment, I decided to draw them out individually , to not only make things easier to know how much materials I would need, but to also make things easier to construct later. I collected my inspiration photos and things that I wanted to incorporate to make my first design, but after revisions, I changed my design around a bit so it would fit the materials I had on hand. I decided to keeping the flapper style and used my materials to mimic the designed on the boat and to give the illusion of a longer, rectangular shape.
