Fall 23, "Silver Linings, a Light in the Darkness"

For this show, I took inspiration from what bring me, as well as many other people, hope and light in a dark time- stars.  For years, people have looked upon the night sky to the north star and to shooting stars and made wishes that they hoped to come true. Like stars, I wanted these dresses to shine, to mimic the sparkle and glow.

I started by drafting a rough bodice, planning for adjustable garments through a lace up back and the use of stretchy material. After playing around with the neckline of the darker dress, I decided on a higher halter neck to give a more elongated appearance. Then going back to the lighter dress, I became to measure out and gather the ruffles to make a fluffy, full skirt without an underskirt.  Once the bases of the dresses were made, we did a quick fitting then got to work adding the details. I used gold sequins, chains and broaches to mimic the night sky. In addition, I referenced my inspiration board to create matching accessories- both jewelry and hair.  With one final dress rehearsal, we were ready for the show!
