Hollywood Glamour: All eyes on you
Hollywood Glamour is a conceptual fashion project that explores the intersection of history, femininity, and cinematic storytelling. The project is rooted in research on influential female historical figures, reimagined through the lens of classic Hollywood glamour. I selected Joan of Arc as my primary inspiration, drawn to her legacy of courage, conviction, and symbolic use of armor as both protection and identity. The main look reinterprets medieval armor into a contemporary, glamorous silhouette through a bold red fur coat, a color historically associated with power, sacrifice, and passion. Structured layering and sharp, angular details reference the form and function of armor, translating strength and resilience into fashion.
To soften the rigidity of the armor-inspired elements, I incorporated ruffled tulle to introduce volume, texture, and movement, creating contrast between strength and delicacy. This balance reflects the duality of Joan of Arc’s image as both warrior and young woman. A secondary look further develops the narrative through embroidered sun motifs, symbolizing divine guidance, faith, and inner power, paired with a dramatic boa that complements the original coat while enhancing the theatrical, Hollywood-inspired aesthetic. Together, these looks combine historical symbolism with modern design techniques, presenting a fashion story that celebrates empowered femininity through bold structure, rich texture, and cinematic glamour.
